Róisín Holahan

Corporate Sponsorship Coordinator

Born and Raised in the Republic of Ireland. Róisín has lived and worked in many European countries including France, Germany, Switzerland and England as well as her native Ireland.

Upon finishing secondary school, Róisín studied Hotel Management at Shannon College and then went on to study for a Bachelor of Commerce Degree specializing in IT and Logistics at the National University of Ireland Galway.

After graduating, Róisín set up and opened a successful restaurant in Galway and then returned to the National University of Ireland Galway to pursue a Masters of Business Studies specialising in E-commerce.

In 2003, Róisín met her future husband, Peter, and moved to Solihull, England to live and work in IT & Finance for the next 2 years.

In 2005, Róisín and Peter moved to Ireland and settled in Waterford in the South East of Ireland. Róisín continued to work in the field of IT & Finance and also pursued a course in Radio Broadcasting. This led to 6 months part time work as a journalist in a regional Radio Station.

In 2008, Róisín studied for a Postgraduate Diploma in Education focusing on the teaching of IT & Business Subjects to secondary school students. Róisín also studied Teaching English as a Foreign Language and co-ordinated and taught an English Camp for Spanish students in Ireland throughout the summer of 2009. As a result of the recession in Ireland, Róisín returned to work in the field of IT & Finance as there were drastic cut backs in State Education Services.

In May 2011, Róisín and Peter moved to Ottawa as Canadian Permanent Residents. Their dog Charlie soon followed as soon as they found a suitable home. Róisín now works in Finance with a view to hopefully returning to teaching in the future either in Secondary School Education or possibly as a trainer in industry.

Róisín has volunteered for many different festivals over the years, notably the Kilkenny Arts Festival in Kilkenny, Ireland and various charities.

Róisín is an enthusiastic cook and cake decorator. She is also a world renowned gin connoisseur and an avid Pedro Almodóvar fan.

Upon moving to Ottawa, Róisín became involved as Pride’s volunteer assistant to the treasurer; she has now taken on the role of Corporate Sponsorship Co-ordinator.
