Sarah Orovan

Site Setup and Gates Coordinator
Sarah Orovan moved to Ottawa in 2000, where she studied at the University of Ottawa and was awarded her Baccalaureate with Honours in Social Science.  During this time she also worked for the City of Ottawa in Special Needs Services and volunteered with Rock City Women’s Festival.  Through this education and experience, Sarah has gained the desire and tools to help enable others to voice their right for equality, acceptance and integration in society.

Sarah then attended Queen’s University for her Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, focusing her education on social and environmental policy.  She also gained a certificate from the City of Ottawa for the participation in Planning Primer courses and electives.  Sarah worked at the Privy Council Office and is currently working for the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat in real property and environmental policy.  She plans to use her knowledge and experience in policy, planning, and public service to provide guidance on improving the business processes and operation of the organization.  Also, with her passion and education in environmental studies, she plans on promoting an agenda for “greening Capital Pride”.

Sarah first volunteered for Capital Pride in 2010 as the Gates Assistant Coordinator and is now proud to be a member of the Board of Directors as well as the Site Setup and Gates Coordinator.
